Chris Smith

Chris Smith nee Higgins was born in Waiau and has lived here for all of her 72 years. With her husband Tony, they raised their family on 'Springhill' the family farm which is presently being run by a family member. Both Chris and Tony are now 'retired'.
 
Chris has been heavily involved in the Community having interests in several Clubs, Organisations and groups.
 
Community Involvement
Chairperson Waiau Friendship Club - Founder of the Club in 1998. Several years running the Club then a break and returned to the office of Chairperson to present day.
  
Waiau Reserve Board - Secretary 2004 to now.
 
Waiau Tennis Club - Life Member
 
Amuri Golf Club - Life Member & Secretary 2000 to now.
 
Waiau School - Parent & Teachers Association, Committee Member from 1966 to 1978.
 
Waiau Hall Committee - Committee member since 2006.
 
Waiau Citizen Association - Executive 6 yrs, Committee, still active on the Association as
'The Citizen' co-ordinator.
  
Why I like living in Waiau....
